Your Colorado Moon Garden

When the moon is full, the night comes alive with a soft, ethereal glow. And what better way to make the most of this magical time than by creating a moon garden of your own?

If you're in zone 5b like us, you'll want to choose plants that can withstand the colder temperatures and shorter growing season. But don't let that stop you from creating a dreamy, white-washed garden that will take your breath away when the moon is at its brightest.

First things first, you'll want to choose plants that are white or pale in color. These will stand out beautifully in the moonlight and create a serene, peaceful atmosphere. Some of our favorites include white tulips, white daffodils, white hyacinths, white bleeding heart, white peonies, white astilbe, white lily of the valley, white columbine, white delphinium, and white hellebore.

But a moon garden isn't just about the flowers. Trees and shrubs with white or silver foliage will add depth and texture to your garden. Try white pine, white spruce, white oak, white birch, white dogwood, white cedar, white hydrangea, white serviceberry, and white ninebark.

Don't forget about the grasses! Ornamental grasses with white or silver plumes such as pampas grass, feather reed grass, and white fountain grass will add movement and interest to your garden.

And let's not forget the vines! White or pale-colored flowering vines such as white clematis, white honeysuckle, and white trumpet vine will add a touch of romance to your garden.

Finally, consider adding some white or pale-colored perennials to your garden. White yarrow, white achillea, white sedum, white gaillardia, white daylily, white veronica, and white echinacea are all great options.

So go forth, zone 5b gardeners, and create a moon garden that will transport you to a different world every time the moon is full.
