2021 Garden Design Trends

Over the past year, we’ve been home a lot more than usual. The time at home has forced people to focus on their green space. Wealth in 2020 wasn’t about what car you drove or how expensive your dinners were, it was how much outdoor space did you have to escape to.

So, as you begin looking to plan for this year’s growing season, here are the three key trends to think about:

Home Sweet Home: Yards are turning into sanctuaries. Outdoor kitchens are exploding as are exercise, yoga, and meditation spaces. At Larkspur Landscaping we believe it’s about all about the synergy between your indoor + outdoor space, one should naturally flow into the other. Your garden should feel like an extension of your home - harmony is key.

Permaculture gardening: Permaculture gardening means "permanent agriculture.” The movement toward sustainable landscaping is heating up. Zero-habitat lawns are on the way out and native-plant gardens are trending in a big way. Our clients are the best and they see the importance of planting to increase local biodiversity.

Edible Gardens: Many of our clients enjoyed the ability to become more self-sufficient by experimenting with home-grown goodies. Fresh salads, strawberries, currants, rhubarb jam galore! We believe we’ll continue to see this trend in 2021.

Need help updating your outdoor space for Sping and Summer 2021 - we’re here to help!
